Alburtis Says Good-bye to Mayor Robert Mader

Family, friends, colleagues pay respects to a pillar of the community.

A vibrant assortment of people came together to give their last respects to Alburtis Mayor Robert Mader.  Mader was active in the Alburtis community and was the former Chief of the Alburtis Fire Department and current member and Captain of the Alburtis Fire Company Fire Police. His visitation ceremony was held the evening of November 7th at the Alburtis Firehouse, and his funeral service was held the morning of November 8th at the Church of the Good Shepard in Alburtis.  His casket was carried through Alburtis one last time via a procession of firetrucks, before finally being interred at Lehigh Zion Cemetery.  At the interment ceremony a 21-gun salute was fired and one final commemorative call was made through the fire company's radio in …

Robert W. Mader, 77, of Alburtis, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012

Robert W. Mader, 77, of Alburtis, died suddenly, Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 in his home. He was the husband of Shirley F. (Blank) Mader. They were married Oct. 13, 1973. Born in Ridgewood, NJ, he was a son of the late Robert W., Sr., and Elizabeth (Grace) Mader. He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ Church, Alburtis, where he was a past consistory member. He was U.S. Army veteran. He graduated from Union Springs Central School, Union Springs, NY, in 1953. A fourth generation volunteer fireman, Mader was a member since 1973 and former Chief of the Alburtis Fire Department. He last served as chief in 2005. He was also a member and currently the Captain of Alburtis Fire Company Fire Police. Bob was serving the …
