A Community Gives Blood at St. Anne's Episcopal Church

Just 10 minutes donating blood can save the lives of up to 3 people says Lynne Reitz of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Macungie. Last week the church held a blood drive for the community. Giving blood is an important and generous act, one which Lynne is only all too familiar with. Her daughter, Claire, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 2. "I understand the need for blood donations," Lynne says. Many members of St. Anne's congregation were on hand during the blood drive to donate. While most people think primarily of red blood cells being collected during blood drives, donators can also give plasma or platelets.
