The report of a strong-arm robbery that took place late Oct. 26 in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill Minit Market in Macungie was instead an act of revenge, police said. Just after 11 p.m., Corey Cummings, 29, of Oley, arranged to meet John Leonti Jr., 46, of Reading, to buy drugs from him. When Leonti didn't have any drugs for Cummings, Cummings became angry and fabricated the story that Leonti, a supposed stranger, grabbed $80 from Cummings and drove from the lot. Leonti was stopped a short time later by the Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department. Cummings was charged with two counts of making false reports to law enforcement authorities, and was taken to Lehigh County Prison to be arraigned. Leonti will be charged with possession of …

Communications between area police departments appeared to play a big role in catching a reported strong-arm robber Wednesday night in Macungie. However, Macungie Police Chief Ed Harry clarified the situation: the men involved knew each other. After the man who allegedly wanted money became rough, the man he reportedly wanted money from wanted to "teach the guy a lesson" and report the exchange as strong-arm robbery. Scanner reports revealed that a man at the Turkey Hill Minit Market, 141 W. Main St., was pumping gas when the suspect approached him and asked if he needed help about 11:15 p.m., according to scanner transmissions. The suspect saw the man had cash in his hand, pushed him to the ground, ran to a mini-van and drove away. …
