Tractor-trailer driver didn't see automobile in his 'blind spot' and drove into him on Lower Macungie highway, causing injury, troopers report.
A Hyundai vs. a Kenworth. You can probably guess who got the best of this tussle recently on Interstate 78 in Lower Macungie Township. And, you would be right. The good news is that the results weren't a whole lot worse. The tractor-trailer driven by Derrick P. Dupre, 28, of Denham Springs, La., was eastbound in the passing lane of I-78 at 11:10 a.m. Feb. 5, according to state police at Fogelsville. Just after merging onto Route 309, Dupre shifted to the right lane but did not see the Hyundai in his "blind spot." That car was driven by Thomas R. Maggio, 58, of Ephrata, Lancaster County. The tractor-trailer's right front wheel struck the driver's side of Maggio's car, causing the Hyundai Elantra to spin in front of the rig and into the …

Hit-and-run crash damages siding and insulation at Upper Milford home, troopers report.
State police at Fogelsville are looking for a truck driver and it isn't to say thank you. Same likely goes for an Upper Milford Township homeowner. Trouble began innocently enough when a tractor-trailer operator struck a low-hanging wire while driving on Kings Highway S. about 10 a.m. Nov. 1 near Lenape Park Road, police said. The snagged vehicle yanked the wire from the side of the home at 6063 Kings Highway S., damaging siding and insulation. The truck left without reporting the accident, police said. Police did not provide a damage estimate. A witness told police that the vehicle was a tractor-trailer, but could not offer a full description. Anyone else who witnessed the hit-and-run accident is asked to call police at 610-395-1438.

First driver was unconscious, but second man halts tanker to avoid crash and injuries, police say.
A trucker on Sunday brought a driverless tank truck to a stop, avoiding injury to other motorists on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lower Macungie Township, according to police. The tanker was without a driver because that man was unconscious and later pronounced dead, according to state police at Fogelsville. The hero was not named in the report, but police said he noticed that something was wrong at 4:30 p.m. and stopped his truck. The tanker was moving very slow, so the fellow trucker was able to catch up with it by foot and stop the tractor-trailer. Police did not say what the tanker hauled and whether it had any contents. Cetronia Ambulance Corps responded, but Richard Cecil Cole, 59, of Avondale, Chester County, was found to be …
