Gas Prices Dip Slightly

Find the cheapest gas in Macungie

The first two weeks of 2012 saw gas prices rise 12 cents because of geopolitical tensions with Iran. Through the same period in 2013, pump prices have risen only a penny, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Gas prices fell slightly in the Lehigh Valley area over the week by about a cent, which is about 5 cents higher than a year ago. The price per gallon in Pennsylvania is also down – by about 1 cent – since last week. The national average price of a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.297, while the average locally is $3.476. Nearby, the cheapest price for a gallon of regular is $3.44 at the Turkey Hill in Macungie. Romney's Visit Made Wawa a Winner

Political pundits say Wawa benefited from publicity over Mitt Romney's controversial campaign stop.

The latest edition of PoliticsPa's Ups & Downs List says the Delware County-based Wawa convenience store chain got a boost from Mitt Romney's visit to Pennsylvania on Father's Day weekend. You can do a lot of things at Wawa along Route 100 in Lower Macungie Township. Drop by for a newspaper, gasoline or coffee? Absolutely. A sandwich? Sure. Withdraw cash from the automated teller machine? Yup, that too. Like to play games? Lottery tickets are on sale. Play pinball? Well . . . not usually. But, maybe not all visitors to the store know that, at least one of them didn't seem to be aware in the overnight hours of May 1.
