East Penn School District Superintendent Thomas Seidenberger said Monday the district's proposed final budget will be presented on May 13. Barring any surprises, he is hopeful for a zero tax increase. The Lehigh Valley, home to Rodale's Runners World magazine, was well represented at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Emmaus residents, journalists, working at the Boston Marathon site gave their thoughts on the explosions and what it was like being there. Has it really been 17 years already? Ready or not, here they come! A beautiful job by members of the Alburtis Fire Department saved the borough tens of thousands of dollars. PPL contractors made their way through the neighborhoods where trees had been clear cut but not before some neighbors wondered if they needed to make arrangements individually. East Penn School District is taking bids for food service providers. The difference this time is that the district is asking the bidders what it would cost if they bring their own workers in place of the 66 lunch ladies who now serve breakfast and lunch to East Penn students. The lunch ladies want to keep their jobs. Several parents at Monday's meeting of the East Penn Board of School Directors say that Julian Stolz must leave the school board after Tweets he either created or circulated on Twitter. The Macungie Police Department took delivery this week of a 2013 Ford Police Interceptor, a car built just for police officers. Laura Rigge, who graduated from Emmaus High School in 2010, competed this week in the college 'Jeopardy' …

Firefighter Kasey Beck tells his story about the tragic March 17 fire in Emmaus. Lou Schuler addressed the East Penn Board of School Directors Monday with concerns about social media posts made by Director Julian Stolz. The six member communities of the Southwestern Lehigh County Comprehensive Plan met Wednesday with concerns about rampant growth throughout the region. But mostly in Lower Macungie Township.
