Winter Storm to Hit Macungie Friday

A winter storm could bring up to 16 inches of snow before it's over, says the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm will bring snow, sleet and rain to Macungie and Lower Mac Friday into early Saturday morning. The major impact will be in New England where a nor'easter-type storm could bring blizzard conditions and almost a foot of snow. The National Weather Service is predicting 6 to 16 inches of snow for this storm and WFMZ predicts 6 to 12 inches for the Lehigh Valley. Snow should develop Friday morning, then mix with or change to sleet and rain from southeast to northwest. "Very hazardous travel is expected for the evening commute and well into the night with visibility down to one quarter mile at times," …

Snowy Saturday in Macungie

After a slow start, snow piled up to drop a few inches and make roads slippery.

With most people not working on Saturday, the snowfall that we woke to provided most of us with something to watch on a lazy morning into the afternoon. The snow was light to begin with, but by late morning picked up in intensity and had dropped about 2 inches into the early afternoon. Accumulation is expected to be 3 to 5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Snow is expected to taper off this evening. Although some outerlying areas were reporting accidents, mostly on secondary roads, none was reported in the Macungie, Lower Macungie or Alburtis areas by 2 p.m.
