There's so much to do this weekend! We have fun for a very worthy cause, jazz, the Allentown Band, a very funny movie and ROLLER DERBY!!! 1. The Ben Event When/Where: 5:30 p.m. July 15 continuing through 4 p.m. July 16 at Macungie Memorial Park. Why Go: The fundraising event honors the life of Ben Yorgey, son of Kent and Ardyth Yorgey of Macungie. Ben, an Emmaus High School grad, was 24 when he died from an anoxic brain injury caused by a seizure suffered on May 5, 2009. Events for the whole family include a 5K run, walk and kids' run, motorcycle ride and Special Olympics swim meet on Saturday. It's more than a chick-flick.
“At last, my looooove has come along.” (Please sing in the style of Etta James.) Thank you, Kristin Wiig for finally writing a movie we ladies can rally around. There’s a reason the moniker “chick-flick” is associated with terrible-ness. Saccharine dialogue, weak plot points and an overabundance of montages set to girl-pop gets old real quick; so it’s ironic that the “chick flick” to rise above is one that’s centered around a wedding, the frilliest of all occasions. “Bridesmaids” is a movie that’s not only ideal for girls’ night out, but one that will allow you to turn to the man in your life and say, “You’ve got to see this.
