Two Hurt in 5-Vehicle Crash

Van slams into line of traffic near Wescosville, disabling three cars, police say.

For a short time, it was as if that Mayhem character in the Allstate auto insurance commercials came to Lower Macungie on March 28. Five vehicles passed near Becker Subara at 4450 Hamilton Blvd. about 2:50 p.m., but only two left under their own power following a five-vehicle chain-reaction crash. Fortunately, only two drivers were injured -- and any injuries likely were minor, since state police at Fogelsville said the operators were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for evaluation. According to police, here's what happened: Douglas Paul Snoddy, 55, of Macungie was driving a van north near the car dealership when he came upon a line of vehicles stopped at a traffic light.
