ReplyRon, thanks for commenting. While the circumstances of police reporting often are unpleasant -- i.e.: a car accident, burglary, etc. -- it is a pleasure to inform Patch readers. We have tried this weekend to obtain the reports you're talking about. Yes, there were two accidents. A different state police barracks is responsible for responding on the Turnpike than on the standard roads of Upper Milford. We have been told to contact state police at King of Prussia Monday morning. We will try to bring you that account if they fax the reports on Monday. Thanks for pointing out those incidents. I believe they are significant.

ReplyTo answer the first reader's question/comment: Yes, I had to do a double-take as well when I read the police report. The accused is charged in the police report with PA VC 3310. Loosely translated, that's following too closely. There is no charge of hit-and-run listed. However, that's not to say that the charge cannot be added later. It appears likely, based on the police report.

ReplyMegan,
Thank you for correcting the date in this story. Of course you know the period in which this could have happened to you. (We have since corrected the fact in the story that appears. Thank you for pointing it out.) For the record, state police also got it right. I misread the date, so it's my error. I apologize to both of you for that and wish you the best in recovering your valuables.

ReplyI assume that you mean that you live in the Borough of Macungie, but it's the same result even if you live in the Borough of Alburtis - your primary responding ambulance is Macungie Ambulance. My understanding from the top official of each corps is that you will be covered by Macungie Ambulance even though you paid Cetronia Ambulance. Again, neither corps is arguing over the situation, but it might be nice to place a call to Cetronia Ambulance and straighten out the situation. And, it would be nice to have your local dollars of support going to the local ambulance service that will help you. It's understandable that you simply responded to a letter in the mail. However, hopefully this article serves as a public service for next year and reassures those who subscribed to either service that they are covered.

ReplyWe're still not sure how this story will end for the landmark ice cream stand that so many have enjoyed, but read on Tuesday morning for how operator Bill Kao has made out since the tragic fire of one year ago.

Ron,
Despite good intentions and several phone calls to state police at King of Prussia, I came up empty. There were two accidents on the Turnpike portion coming through Upper Milford last week. The first was on Feb. 25 in which a driver was hurt when his car got pushed into the center barrier. Two days later, one woman was somewhat seriously hurt and seven others were injured to a lesser degree in related accidents involving as many as eight vehicles. This information is from other published reports. Unfortunately, when I called as recently as yesterday, I was told that the troopers in both cases had not started the accident reports -- yes, a week later -- or had any news releases to offer. It sounds as if one account came from scanner transmissions that I did not hear and, in the second case, the reporter was able to reach police by phone for a few verbal details. We generally deal with state police at Fogelsville, but this section of the Northeast Extension is handled by the barracks at King of Prussia. Sorry to come up short, but thought you deserved what little I knew and an explanation.
